Don't upgrade to the iPhone 3G

Can't get your mind off the new iPhone 3G? Chris Maxcer over at TechNewsWorld just penned an editorial to discourage readers, assuming they already own the original iPhone, from upgrading to the 3G version. While already an iPhone 3G owner himself, he wrote, "I simply can't in good conscience recommend the iPhone 3G to existing iPhone customers."

According to Maxcer, the only real difference between the two models is that the iPhone 3G comes with 3G support as well as built-in GPS hardware. Beyond these two features however, the other improvements are relatively incremental, and by themselves would not justify the price for an upgrade. If that doesn't deter you, Maxcer calculated the cost of getting the new iPhone and concluded that customers will be spending more over the life of this phone as a direct result of tariffs from AT&T.
