CNET Asia managed to speak to Tylar Lessard, who is the director of ISV Alliances and Dev. Relations over at RIM. The discussion was about the up-coming BlackBerry Application Center [1] which was announced at the BlackBerry Developer Conference last year.

Here are some interesting nuggets of information that were revealed:

• Developers will get 80 percent of revenue; RIM will get 20 percent.
  Excerpt: We announced that if users are paying for the application, the developer will receive 80 percent of the revenue back and 20 percent will be kept to help maintain and pay for the system.
  
• Developers will have ways to keep their customers updated.
  Excerpt: We are ensuring that developers will be able to submit applications and upgrades when they need to and let users set up custom profiles so they can be alerted when new types of applications are posted.
  
• It will be possible to access the Application Store via Wi-Fi.
  Excerpt: At the end of it, we want to support the broadest types of applications, different types of billing models and operate a very effective wireless channel for downloading applications, whether it's via a cellular network or Wi-Fi.
  
• Free, paid, subscription and try-and-buy models will be supported.
  Excerpt: We want to make sure we support free applications, paid applications and also monthly subscription billing or try-and-buy models.
  
• Wireless operators and developers can continue to distribute their applications directly.
  Excerpt: Wireless operators can also offer their own customization to that storefront experience. We'll continue to let developers distribute directly as well.
