Many enterprises are still chock full of IT carts--those four-wheeled movable transports to drag tech equipment and tools around the corporate office. A big problem though is keeping track of all those IT pieces of equipment and technology, and even sometimes knowing where the cart actually is when it comes time to use it for the next big upgrade or roll-out.
As one organization learned, wireless technology, when used creatively, can solve all those problems and even boost efficiency. A New York-based real estate company grab a hold of some new WLAN system and a centralized management package which tracks devices and equipment using a mobility system that registers equipment and then locates it when needed. By incorporating a PC card into the notebook that was attached to each card, the IT team was able to easily track where its carts were within the 24-story building. By using some ingenuity and common sense, the tech team reduce wasted time and loss of productivity. Article [1]
