IDC Health Insights Predicts WE Investments in Clinical Mobility Will Reach $2.4 Billion in 2014
London, April 15, 2014 — IDC Health Insights recently revealed Western European healthcare providers' 2014 clinical mobility trends and investments in a report, How European Healthcare Providers Progress Along the 4Cs of Clinical Mobility (IDCHI #HIOH02W, March 2014). Based on the results of a survey of 179 healthcare IT and non-IT executives in Western Europe, this study analyzes the readiness of Western European providers for mobile, looking at their current adoption and investment plans in key technologies that will enable a comprehensive clinical mobility strategy.
IDC Health Insights finds that European healthcare providers are focusing on mobile solutions that address the most time-consuming processes to reduce waste, delay, and duplications. According to IDC Health Insights, investment in clinical mobility is expected to reach $2.4 billion by the end of 2014. Solutions supporting patient administration, dictation/speech recognition, and workflow automation are in the spotlight in the short term, but they will also experience real benefits when clinical applications are more easily accessible in the mobile environment.
"Healthcare providers that want to leverage mobile to enable a patient-centric and collaborative work environment should plan and implement a comprehensive clinical mobility strategy that addresses key areas such as connectivity, performance, manageability, usability, and security," said Silvia Piai, EMEA research manager, IDC Health Insights. "The reach and breadth of these capabilities is way beyond consideration about the device."
