T-Mobile USA Launching WildTangent's New Android Games Service Today With Free and Rental Game Play Choices
WildTangent and T-Mobile USA, Inc. are announcing that the WildTangent Games service is going live today for T-Mobile customers with Android(TM) devices. Unlike other mobile game offerings available in the market today, customers are presented with the choice of playing premium games for free, renting games or purchasing the games outright.
Consumers can easily discover top quality games such as Fruit Ninja, Kona's Gate and Guitar Hero in WildTangent's convenient app, which will be located in the T-Mobile Mall in the Game Base channel and accessible by texting "GetWild" to 6255 from their Android phone. New games will be added each week and all games, even those that people normally have to purchase first elsewhere, can be played for free for hours after watching only a short video. Alternatively, T-Mobile customers can choose to rent games for as little as $0.25 for 24 hours with no advertising and all rentals apply toward ownership of the game.
"Our curated service gives Android game players choices they've never had before to experience games," said Sean Vanderdasson, senior vice president at WildTangent. "For years in our online service, these choices have been extremely popular among our millions of players. Let's face it, most consumers simply can't afford or don't want to own every game available. They enjoy variety, so we're excited to take this model to Android and give consumers a way to play games on their own terms."
"Game developers as well have needed a more fair way to be compensated for the hard work they put into developing great games," Vanderdasson continued. "This model allows everyone to win since developers benefit from advertising and rental revenues."
"With the launch of WildTangent's service, T-Mobile can now present the latest games into a single service model that makes it easy for customers to find as well as try out," said Torrie Dorrell, vice president of applications, content and games, T-Mobile USA. "Games continue to be among the most popular activities for our customers using Android so we do our best to ensure they get the best value, and this service will give them great choices for how they choose to play games."
The service can be found live today in the T-Mobile Mall with other discovery points including pre-installations over the coming months. WildTangent will offer its virtual currency, WildCoins, for rental, in-game items and purchase. Free game play and sponsored virtual items will be powered by WildTangent's advertising platform, BrandBoost.
