A VoIP phone for every kind of user
Given the number of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones now hitting the market, it's easy to believe that VoIP will soon be a common technology within the enterprise. Avaya is the latest vendor to announce that it's rolling out new VoIP phones specifically for the enterprise user. There is a "walk-up" phone, built for lobby or conference room use, with a big screen and the functionality to let a company's telcom division install a phone directory through a desktop phone. The second model is termed an "everyday" use phone for non-communication heavy needs. The "essential user" phone is for the opposite user group--those who use the phone the most and offers up capabilities such as alerts, call prioritization and conference call ability. The "navigator" is for the user who manages calls within the enterprise such as an administrative staffer. Yet as experts note, the true value of any or all of these models is still tied to good voice capability and strong network stability. Article
