Activision Leeds to spearhead 'Call of Duty' mobile game efforts

Activision's Leeds, England division will head development of all future mobile titles based on the popular Call of Duty franchise. Andy Payne, chairman of the Association for UK Interactive Entertainment, said the Leeds studio will spearhead "all handheld versions [and] iOS versions of Call of Duty" moving forward, but he would not confirm whether staffers also developed the Sony PlayStation Vita release Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified. Activision Leeds opened in late 2011 and its role in the larger Activision hierarchy was previously unclear. The World War II-inspired Call of Duty first launched in 2003; as of early 2012, more than 40 million monthly active gamers play the series across all titles. Article
