Adobe grabs 10% cut of iOS games published using Director 12

Adobe Systems has updated the end user licensing agreement for its Director 12 publishing platform, requesting that developers who leverage the software to create premium games for Apple's iOS award Adobe 10 percent of all earnings above $20,000. Within five days of the end of each quarter, developers are expected to email Adobe with the details of their iOS app revenues and sales activity, complete with the amount owed; Adobe will follow up with an invoice, and developers are expected to fork over Adobe's share within 30 days. Adobe's forums indicate strong developer opposition to the updated agreement.

In tandem with Adobe Shockwave Player software, Adobe Director allows developers to build and publish interactive games and eLearning courses for iOS, the Web, Mac and Windows, as well as DVDs and CDs. Article
