Appcelerator, Geoloqi team for location-triggered push notifications
Appcelerator is upgrading its Titanium 2.0 application development platform to incorporate Geoloqi's real-time location services API and toolkit, enabling iOS and Android developers to build new context-aware functionality into their apps.
The Geoloqi platform supports location-based services including messaging, battery management, geo-fencing, storage and analytics, enabling persistent background location tracking that transitions between data sources such as carrier signals, GPS, Wi-Fi and indoor systems. Geoloqi and Appcelerator also will introduce customizable geo-triggered events that transmit in-app push notifications to a single end user at the exact moment they enter a designated geo-fenced zone. All Geoloqi services include safety and privacy features including opt-in and opt-out capabilities.
Roughly 300,000 developers are building apps on the Titanium platform, which leverages more than 5,000 mobile device and operating system APIs to enable the creation of native iOS, Android and HTML5 apps. Appcelerator developer partners have deployed more than 40,000 apps in all, with cumulative downloads in excess of 50 million.
