Apple opens iPhone
The path to success, so far, has been relatively smooth for the Apple iPhone. One notable rough spot, though, has been the question of third-party applications: Apple's point of view was that they should use the web, or hit the road. A particularly harsh byproduct of this point of view is the phenomenon of the "iBrick", the iPhone left useless by the latest software revision. Now, Apple is changing direction and offering an SDK for developers to use in building new applications for the sleek high-style phone. It's too early to say that this will keep all iPhone users happy, but it's likely to be seen as a step in the right direction by loyal iPhone users who simply want more apps for their favorite phone.
