Apple reportedly sets date for iPhone 5se, iPad Air 3 reveal
Apple will reportedly reveal additions to its iPhone and iPad family of products at an event on March 15, according to 9to5Mac.
On that day, Apple plans to introduce its rumored iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3. Some features of the iPad Air 3 will bring it closer in line with the most recently released tablet from Apple, the iPad Pro.
The company will also reportedly unveil new band options for its line of Apple Watch smartwatches.
The iPhone 5se is a revamp of the iPhone 5s model. Upgraded features will reportedly include A9 and M9 processors, curved glass edges, a near-field chip for Apple Pay and a slew of other improvements. The iPhone 5se will likely replace the iPhone 5s, which Apple will likely discontinue.
The newest iPad is expected to have some features that were introduced in the iPad Pro, including quad speakers, a Smart Connector for accessories like a detachable keyboard, and possible support for the Apple Pencil stylus, according to Engadget.
If Apple is indeed pushing the iPad Air 3 closer to the iPad Pro in terms of features, that begs the question of whether or not the iPad Pro is a closer relative to the other line of iPads than previously thought. It seems if computing power is the only major difference between the two lines – the Engadget source even said the new iPad Air model would be bulkier than previous models – it could be a confusing and not significant enough differentiation between the Air and Pro devices.
