Apple to unveil latest creation today
Apple's promise to show off its "latest creation" at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco today has fueled a endless stream of rumors about the company's planned announcement. Everyone is downright giddy as Apple could very well introduce a tablet device complete with content specialized for that device along with a new version of its iPhone operating system and a possible iPhone distribution deal with Verizon Wireless.
Late yesterday, McGraw-Hill executive Terry McGraw told CNBC that indeed a tablet will be revealed today. "Yes, they'll make their announcement tomorrow on this one," said McGraw. "We have worked with Apple for quite a while. And the tablet is going to be based on the iPhone operating system."
McGraw said that 95 percent of McGraw-Hill's textbooks are in e-book format and therefore will be available on the new tablet.
"We have a consortium of e-books...and we have 95 percent of all our materials that are in e-book format on that one. So now with the tablet you're going to open up the higher education market, the professional market. The tablet is going to be just really terrific," he said.
Apple plans to unveil the new creation at 10 a.m. pacific time.
