Apriva certifies Psion Teklogix Ikon Rugged PDA for its POS and Payment Engine solution

Apriva and Psion Teklogix have announced the successful certification and integration of the Apriva Secure Point of Sale for Windows Mobile and Apriva Payment Engine with the Psion Teklogix Ikôn rugged PDA. The Ikôn is a business-centric, rugged device that runs on Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. Besides a full VGA display, it sports just about every connectivity option, such as Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi.

The Class A certification means that Apriva has fully reviewed and tested the solution and its usability on multiple processing partner platforms. This is significant since 65 to 70 percent of all wireless payment transactions in the United States go through Apriva's gateway. Organizations that have deployed the Psion Teklogix will now be able to integrate payment functionality into a single device, which is far better than having to juggle multiple devices.

Psion is very late to the game on retail transactions.

It will be a long time before they catch up. I don't think the company is set up or has experience to do retail
