Taiwan's Asustek Computer, which rode to fame on its Eee PC low-cost notebook line (which also created a whole new genre called netbooks), has no plans to slow down production anytime soon. Chairman Jonney Shih hopes to increase the company's notebook output by 77 percent, and ship up to 20 million laptops next year. This will effectively propel Asustek into the top four laptop makers in the world. Already, the company is on track to ship 11.3 million units of portable computers this year. Confidence in the Asustek is strong, with company shares up 3 percent on Tuesday this week, despite a 0.3 percent drop in the benchmark index.
