AT&T, Verizon turn to startup speed-dating to fuel innovation


AT&T and Verizon Communications are increasingly turning to mobile startups to drive software and hardware innovation. Bloomberg reports that AT&T met with 508 startups in speed-dating sessions last year, while Verizon has boosted investments in fledgling companies by about 50 percent over the past two years. Both operators are seeking new partners and technologies to help offset declining voice revenues and fend off competitors.
