AT&T and Verizon Communications are increasingly turning to mobile startups to drive software and hardware innovation. Bloomberg reports that AT&T met with 508 startups in speed-dating sessions last year, while Verizon has boosted investments in fledgling companies by about 50 percent over the past two years.
