Augme scoops up mobile marketer Jagtag in $5.25M deal

Mobile marketing services firm Augme Technologies agreed to acquire all assets of 2D barcodes provider Jagtag in a deal valued at $5.25 million. The Jagtag solution enables consumers to read QR codes sans smartphone or scanning application--users instead snap and send a photo of the code, and Jagtag replies with a multimedia message sent directly to the phone's inbox, rather than as a link to the relevant media. Clients include Sports Illustrated, 20th Century Fox, Unilever, Pepsi, Gatorade, MTV/Viacom and NBCUniversal. Augme will hire all existing Jagtag employees. Release
