Here's a new high-growth market for mobile IT--gambling. London-based PocketWinnings.com predicts that the mobile gambling industry will reach $100 billion by 2017.

The U.K. mobile gambling industry is the world's fastest growing in the world. Betting operators have reported up to 150 percent growth in their mobile gambling revenues in the last 12 months, while operators such as Paddy Power and William Hill have announced up to 50 percent of their sportsbook turnover from mobile devices, according to the latest stats from PocketWinnings.com.

Mobile revenues currently make up 15 percent of the gambling industry, a number that is likely to increase to 17 percent within a couple of years.

The United States is a latecomer to the mobile gambling industry, with New Jersey set to be the first U.S. state to offer regulated mobile gambling by the end of the year.
