Bluetooth 3.0 all ready to go

Bluetooth 3.0 is all ready to go and will be unveiled next week in Tokyo by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. Besides greater throughput, Bluetooth 3.0 will also feature a new architecture feature called "Alternate MAC/PHY." This gives Bluetooth 3.0 the temporary ability to ramp up transfer speeds greatly by tapping into a secondary 802.11 radio that might be present in a consumer device.

I can imagine scenarios where traditional Bluetooth file transfers between mobile phones for example, are completed in a fraction of the time normally required. Moving ahead, future versions of Bluetooth will integrate low-energy technologies which should find its way into applications in medicine and sports.
