Cisco, MobileAccess look to boost cellular coverage over Ethernet LANs
Cisco has teamed up with in-building specialist MobileAccess to develop a solution that sends RF signals over Cisco Ethernet LANs to enable enterprises to add cellular coverage and expand Cisco wireless LAN coverage at the same time. The result is a low-cost and fast way to increase coverage for both technologies, MobileAccess said.
"In delivering this integrated solution to enterprise customers, MobileAccess and Cisco will work closely with a number of wireless service providers to provision the cellular component of the solution," MobileAccess said in a release.
MobileAccess is working with MIT's Information Services & Technology team to install the solution at different MIT facilities. The new application is available through Cisco and its channel partners.
