Citrix revamps XenMobile to kickstart employee productivity
Citrix is launching a new version of its XenMobile enterprise mobility management platform, introducing a series of features that the company says simplifies and accelerates manual processes for corporate users while making it easier for IT departments to deploy and scale new technologies.
Enhancements in XenMobile 8.6 include a one-touch feature enabling users to automatically launch and join an online meeting via Citrix GoToMeeting or other similar services from their mobile device calendar. A dial-in option auto-dials the conference number and participant code.
New authentication tools enable XenMobile users to access work applications with a personal identification number similar to an ATM PIN code for banking, eliminating the need to type passwords for each app. All PINs are combined with user-specific digital certificates to ensure high security, Citrix says.
XenMobile 8.6 integrates GoToMeeting, Citrix ShareFile and Citrix GoToAssist, offering single-step device enrollments, auto configuration of secure email and wizard-based deployment. Businesses can mobilize remote offices, onboard new business units and manage and support hundreds of thousands of mobile users across multiple devices and locations. Organizations can additionally roll out more than 100 third-party applications from Citrix's Worx App Gallery catalog.
XenMobile 8.6 also provides support for new mobile application programming interfaces for the iOS 7, Amazon Kindle Fire and Samsung Knox platforms. Citrix is beefing up app security and management capabilities with more than 60 different app policies for iOS and Android.
Citrix cloud solutions for mobility, desktop virtualization, networking, collaboration and data sharing are used by more than 330,000 organizations and more than 100 million users globally. The company racked up annual 2012 revenues of $2.59 billion.
