Cricket teams with LiveWire for Mobile Music

Leap Wireless' prepaid subsidiary Cricket Communications announced an agreement with managed mobile personalization services provider LiveWire Mobile to launch Mobile Music. The full-track music service, managed by LiveWire, comes in a variety of pricing flavors: Cricket customers can download songs directly to their phone for $1.99 each, or receive three download credits for a $5 monthly charge. In addition, songs are available online at for 99 cents each; consumers may use Cricket's Music Manager software to sideload the tracks, or buy two copies of each song (one for their PC and one for their phone) for $2.25 per tune.

Cricket will launch Mobile Music by partnering with hip-hop star Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em for a promotion featuring his latest hit "Kiss Me Thru the Phone." Cricket ringback subscribers are offered a limited-license free copy of the single to be used for two weeks, and the first 100 customers to download the track each day during the promotion will receive it for free. All ringback, Mobile Music and Mobile Video customers may also enter a download-to-win contest offering a chance to win a trip for two to a Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em concert and an exclusive meet and greet.
