Dell confirmed AT&T (NYSE:T) will introduce its Streak tablet device on Aug. 12, with software optimized for the Android OS-powered unit available for download via the IT giant's fledgling Mobile Applications Store as well as Google's Android Market storefront. "Yes! Dell has launched a mobile application store with apps available for the Dell Streak," reads the Dell website. "Visit www.dell.com/mobile or go directly to the store www.dellmobileappstore.com." The Dell Mobile Applications Store is operated and maintained by cross-platform app store provider PocketGear.

The Dell Streak boasts a five-inch screen, promising a web browsing experience comparable to a laptop. The device also features built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth capability and 3G connectivity to support on-the-go entertainment, social media interaction and navigation solutions. The Streak will ship running Android 1.6, with an over-the-air upgrade to Android 2.2 scheduled for later this year.
