Dell touts Mobile Applications Store with Streak tablet


Dell confirmed AT&T (NYSE:T) will introduce its Streak tablet device on Aug. 12, with software optimized for the Android OS-powered unit available for download via the IT giant's fledgling Mobile Applications Store as well as Google's Android Market storefront. "Yes! Dell has launched a mobile application store with apps available for the Dell Streak," reads the Dell website. "Visit or go directly to the store" The Dell Mobile Applications Store is operated and maintained by cross-platform app store provider PocketGear.

The Dell Streak boasts a five-inch screen, promising a web browsing experience comparable to a laptop. The device also features built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth capability and 3G connectivity to support on-the-go entertainment, social media interaction and navigation solutions. The Streak will ship running Android 1.6, with an over-the-air upgrade to Android 2.2 scheduled for later this year.
