EA Mobile launches free 'Tetris' exclusive on Android smartphones


Electronic Arts' EA Mobile division introduced a free version of the classic puzzle game Tetris optimized exclusively for smartphones running Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android mobile operating system. The launch heralds the first-ever free version of Tetris released for mobile devices and is the second free Android title published by EA in recent weeks, following on the heels of Scrabble.

Tetris is the second game from Electronic Arts now available for free in the Android Marketplace.

According to EA Mobile, the new edition of Tetris touts improved visuals, touchscreen controls, a marathon gameplay mode and tools enabling gamers to track their statistics and chart their progress against rival players. It is available for download via Google's Android Market.

First released in June 1984, Tetris now exceeds 132 million paid mobile downloads across more than 185 countries. Tetris is now available across more than 50 digital platforms.
