Editor's Corner
The small and medium-sized enterprise needs every advantage it can get in order to compete and that's essentially what's driving the business sector towards mobile technologies. A new study from the Yankee Group indicates that 60 percent of today's small business owners have either deployed or are embarking on deploying mobile networks and wireless applications--a big spike from last year's 54 percent. While email is the top reason for the wireless push, managers in the sector are coming to realize that wireless can support a whole host of business services and applications and can give their business a clear return. Furthermore, emerging technologies will make wireless even more attractive to SMB managers. One promising innovation is xMax, a new type of wireless VoIP that's a low-power and lower-cost network option that can free businesses from relying on WiFi access for their phones. -Judy
