Getting past the hype to real-world deployment
If there's one thing that we can all say about the wireless technology movement, it's that it can be difficult to differentiate between what's working, what still needs work and what's far away from being a usable technology. True enterprise deployment stories aren't jamming up my email box, so when I find a great case study about how a company has pulled-in wireless to make business operations more efficient and productive, I almost have to shout from the rooftop. This article over at WirelessWeek focuses on how a retailer has not only plugged into wireless but how it has fully embraced embedded wireless-wide area networking capabilities over WiFi. It's definitely worth a read, as the company's tech leaders explain why they went in that technological direction and detail the benefits that they're reaping, besides cost savings in networking.- Judy
