Still tons of work to do with mobile security

While today's 'how to' feature speaks to how enterprises can better secure mobile connectivity through the use of third-party services and putting security in the hands of both IT and users, a new report indicates there's still quite a bit of work to do when it comes to deploying secure mobile operations. The report, "Comply on the Fly," from the Business Performance Management Forum clearly indicates that it still takes a major business disaster--a data loss or data breach--to get things moving toward good wireless security. About 40 percent of those polled in the survey say they don't have good policies in place for protecting confidential data housed on mobile devices, despite the fact that workers are carrying around valuable data on a daily basis. This leads to the question of why? Is it a matter of not having the IT resources, or the budget to make such policies and enforce them? Or is it just an item on the to-do list that tech teams haven't gotten to? Let me know if you're part of the 40 percent and why, and, if you are part of the other percentile, what prompted you to get those needed policies in place? -Judy
