The number of large enterprises launching their own mobile app stores is on pace to grow at double-digit rates through 2018, according to a new ABI Research forecast.

Enterprise app store adoption across the globe will increase 30.4 percent year-over-year, with the manufacturing and trade industries spearheading the largest share of deployments. While North American and Western European enterprise app store adoption will grow at 20.7 percent and 21.5 percent respectively, the Asia Pacific market will dwarf both regions, with enterprise app store adoption growing at an annual rate of 59 percent through 2018.

"Mobile Application Management is growing in popularity among enterprises looking to deploy flexible mobile solutions to support Bring-Your-Own-Device initiatives," said ABI Senior Analyst Jason McNicol. "The problem is finding a scalable solution to deploy enterprise apps without placing additional burdens on IT departments. Enterprise app stores allow enterprises to expand their mobile application portfolio yet control distribution based on role and mobile policy."

Other benefits, according to ABI: Enabling a mobile workforce with apps that contain key documents (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, videos and work order forms), custom app deployment to employees and app lifecycle management. Release
