Ericsson partners with Kaixin001 on mobile social apps


Vendor giant Ericsson announced a three-year partnership with Chinese social networking service Kaixin001 to develop new mobile application enabling users to more efficiently access the site. Per terms the agreement, Ericsson and Kaixin001 will jointly develop applications enabling users to manage their virtual space, interact with contacts and stay updated on their online communities via mobile device--the companies add they're also considering real-time photo uploads, SMS alerts on celebrity activities and location-based services. Ericsson and Kaixin001 will additionally team to create opportunities for the site to partner with other social media services, operators and advertising agencies at home and abroad.

Kaixin001--a.k.a. "Happy Net"--launched in March 2008 and now boasts more than 50 million subscribers in China and among Chinese speakers worldwide. The service attracts about 200,000 new registrations each day.
