First 1GHz Windows Mobile smartphone to arrive in Japan

The first Windows Mobile smartphone with a 1GHz processor is due to appear in Japan. Based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the new T-01A mobile device--what kind of name is that anyway?--will be shipped by NTT DoCoMo. The technical specifications do look impressive: A 4.1-inch display with a better-than-VGA resolution of 800 x 480, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and mainstream features such as HSDPA, GPS and Bluetooth.

Throw in an accelerometer, a microSD slot with support for up to 32GB of storage and the 1GHz processor of course, and what else could you ask for? Assuming that battery life is not impacted, I certainly would not mind having more clock cycles on my smartphone. After all, who can dispute the value of a smoother multitasking experience--something that the Palm Pre is said to handle very well.
