First Data acquires Perka mobile customer loyalty system

Perka's cardless loyalty system offers consumers perks for frequenting local merchants

Digital commerce and payment processing services firm First Data acquired consumer loyalty platform Perka. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Perka's cardless loyalty system, optimized for iOS and Android smartphones, offers consumers increasing tiers of perks in exchange for frequenting local merchants and checking in via the application. Merchants can create a set of loyalty rewards and incentives tailored to their business and when a customer makes a purchase at a participating location, they earn points towards a future reward.

Perka merchant partners can track check-ins and corresponding customer activity via tablet, webpage or linked point-of-sale system. In addition, Perka's cloud-hosted platform integrates triggered offers and mobile messaging options, encouraging repeat visits and driving additional sales.

Perka supports active merchants in the United States, Canada, the U.K., Australia, Africa and Latin America.

With Perka's open and scalable platform, merchants of any size now have agility to customize a mobile loyalty marketing program that works for their business needs," said First Data President Guy Chiarello.

First Data enables secure transactions across the digital and brick-and-mortar landscapes, supporting payments by mobile phone, debit and credit card, gift cards and checks. This week the company reported consolidated third-quarter revenues of $2.7 billion, up $38 million year-over-year.
