Flurry launches mobile ad analytics service for app marketers
Mobile app analytics firm Flurry introduced Ad Analytics, enabling mobile app marketers to measure the effectiveness of traffic acquisition campaigns across advertising networks including Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) AdMob, Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iAd and independent Millennial Media.
Flurry Ad Analytics is built on top of the Flurry Analytics platform, which powers customer interaction data for more than 70,000 companies across roughly 190,000 applications. Ad Analytics automatically tracks clicks and installations, attributing all data to the correct campaigns and traffic sources and delivering insight into how consumers behave after they download the app. Marketers also can define how they wish to measure user quality, offering options like demographics, usage intensity or completion of a defined custom event like monetization or social sharing.
Flurry states that all campaign and traffic sources created in Flurry Ad Analytics will automatically appear as a segment in Flurry Analytics, enabling marketers to compare usage per acquired cohort of users--e.g., measuring the 30-day retention of consumers sourced from different campaigns or traffic channels. Flurry Ad Analytics is priced on a per installation basis, beginning at five cents per install and declining as volume increases. Flurry will launch the service next month.
Flurry Ad Analytics extends to the firm's own AppCircle cross-selling network. Officially launched in mid-2010, AppCircle leverages an intelligent recommendation engine in tandem with Flurry analytics data to serve targeted applications based on aggregated usage. The self-service solution offers integration options including links to menu pages, settings pages and banner impressions. Developers may also use their own virtual currency to incentivize downloads. Late last year, Flurry unveiled AppCircle Re-Engagement for Apple's iOS, enabling developers to identify, target and attract high-value, lapsed users across other applications.
