Google to confirm wireless spectrum bid

Google will official confirm Friday its intent to apply for entry into the Federal Communications Commission's January wireless spectrum auction. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the Wall Street Journal reports the Internet giant will bid on the so-called "C" block of spectrum, likely going up against rival bidders including AT&T and Verizon Wireless. It is unclear whether Google will pursue any other segments of the available spectrum--a company spokesperson declined comment. The FCC has set a Dec. 3 deadline for firms planning to declare their entry into the auction process.
