Google Docs viewer expands to Android, iOS

Google released a mobile-optimized version of its Google Docs viewer, enabling consumers to access .doc, .docx, PowerPoint and PDF files directly via their device browser. Developed for iPhone and Android smartphones as well as Apple's iPad tablet, Google Docs viewer for mobile encompasses all files uploaded to the user's documents list--no downloads are necessary. The viewer also enables users to switch quickly between pages and pan/zoom within a page--iPhone and iPad owners may also pinch content to zoom in or out. Google did not specify when or if it will extend Google Docs for mobile to offer document editing.
