Google Mobile App expands to Apple's iPad
Google announced the launch of a new version of its Google Mobile App optimized for Apple's iPad tablet device. Available for download via Apple's App Store, the application includes features familiar from the existing Google Mobile App for iPhone, including voice-enabled search and My Location; from the Apps tab, users can also navigate to web-based tools like Gmail. Writing on the Official Google Mobile Blog, software engineer Alistair Tse notes the revised app was created expressly to take advantage of the iPad's larger screen dimensions, adding that while the app is essentially the same as its iPhone predecessor, Google is presently at work on improving the software to better exploit the iPad experience.
