Google and Oracle will finally square off in court when their long-simmering Android patent infringement trial begins next month. U.S. District Judge William Alsup announced Wednesday that the Google/Oracle trial will begin in San Francisco federal court on April 16. An Oracle suit filed in 2010 alleges approximately one-third of API packages in Google's Android's mobile operating system are "derivative of Oracle's copyrighted Java API packages" and related documents. Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems and its Java programming language in April 2009. Article
