Japanese gaming giant GREE said Apple's iOS has become a far more lucrative development platform over the last 12 months, thanks in part to the iPad tablet's emergence as a gaming device. "It's 4x and beyond in terms of revenue [compared to a year ago]," Anil Dharni, GREE's senior vice president of studio operations, told TechCrunch. He said Google's Android is still behind iOS on per user monetization, but added "We feel that Android is going to grow faster this year." Dharni also predicted Facebook will emerge as an important distribution channel for mobile developers: "Overall, it's still too early to say but some of the test results that are coming in are pretty good actually," he explained. "The ROI is definitely there. It will definitely become one of the top channels for user acquisition long-term." Article
