Handmark acquires FreeRange Communications

Mobile media solutions provider Handmark announced a definitive agreement to acquire privately-held mobile technology firm FreeRange Communications. Financial terms were not disclosed. FreeRange's mobile publishing platform enables media companies and content publishers to create their own branded mobile applications--partners include The Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, CBS and the NBA's New York Knicks and Portland TrailBlazers. According to Handmark, it will expand FreeRange's mobile publishing platform technology, with FreeRange's RSS web reading capabilities enhancing Handmark's existing mobile offerings as well.
