How to boost your WiFi range
Getting the most out of your buck with wireless takes work and some creative ingenuity, but there are two specific tools that can help an organization wring the most benefit in casting a large WiFi range. The first is Hawking Technologies' High Gain USB Wireless-G Dish antenna which features a wireless WiFi network interface card (NIC) that attaches via a USB port. Thanks to its dish it can increase send and receive capability past that of a traditional pole antenna. While pretty simple to set up, making sure the antenna is placed in the best spot can take a little time.
The second solution for consideration is using Netgear's RangeMax 240 router and network cards which, while also easy to set up, requires a little more time to get everything working together. It will not only boost network speed but provide terrific range capabilities. The only big downside to the Netgear tool is that it's unlikely to operate with the soon-to-be approved 802.11n standard coming this year.
