IBM unveils Lotus Notes apps for iPhone, Android
IBM introduced applications for Apple's iPhone and Google's Android platforms that allow users to read their encrypted Lotus Notes email.
IBM unveiled a free plug-in called Lotus Notes Traveler Companion for iPhone users while later this year it will begin offering the same product client for the Android platform, beginning with Google's Nexus One device.
The AppShopper site describes the client as this: "If you want a mobile alternative to reading Domino-encrypted mail on your laptop, then this is the application for you. Encrypted mail will appear in your inbox with only a unique, secure link for the Companion application. After entering your Lotus Notes Traveler password, the mail will be displayed on your iPhone or iPod Touch, and then upon exit will leave no decrypted mail on the device--ensuring the security of your most sensitive corporate data."
In related news, Research in Motion launched new BlackBerry software for several Lotus products designed to improve social networking and collaboration for mobile workers.
