iPad social magazine Flipboard launches Oprah-curated section
Flipboard, the iPad "social magazine" first launched in mid-2010, will partner with Oprah Winfrey's OWN cable network and Oprah.com to introduce an official branded section that spotlights content curated by the Queen of All Media herself.
Flipboard will integrate Oprah.com content including full-page O, The Oprah Magazine images and stories as well as video, also offering social media comments and sharing tools. In addition, users can follow Winfrey's own Twitter account as she wraps up the final season of her long-running Oprah Winfrey Show.
Co-founded by former TellMe CEO Mike McCue and onetime Apple senior iPhone engineer Evan Doll, Flipboard brings together stories, photos, news and updates from across Facebook and Twitter. Inspired by the look and format of traditional print publications, the free Flipboard app assembles pages from content within the user's social media network, rendering links and images directly inside the magazine--a Table of Contents page offers a rundown of all sections, and users may also create sections based on topics or people most important to them.
