A look at QuickOffice for Android
Software house QuickOffice debuted its first Microsoft Office compatible application for the Android platform just last month. Jason Z. Cohen from LinuxInsider took a look at QuickOffice for Android and concluded that it shows promise, despite the fact that it doesn't support the OpenDocumentFormat (ODF) favored by open-source advocates. And yes, it is read-only in its current iteration.
Even as top mobile phone makers battle it out for a larger slice of the market, money remains to be made in related, secondary markets such as office compatible productivity suites for the various platforms. In fact, I conducted an email interview with DataViz's Jenn Figueroa late last year, and it is clear that the company is actively working on an iPhone as well as a Google Android version of its popular Documents To Go suite.
