Roughly a week after launching, chat application MessageMe reports its global userbase already tops 1 million. Users are now sending more than 500 notifications per second worldwide, and U.S. consumers have shared 10 million doodles and 4 million iTunes tracks.

In addition, MessageMe has raised $1.9 million in seed funding from True Ventures, First Round Capital, Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Ventures, SVAngel, Resolut.vc, Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock Partners and Social+Capital Partnership.

MessageMe, introduced for Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS and Google's Android earlier this month, eschews conventional operator SMS services to enable users to exchange free one-on-one or group messages via Wi-Fi, 3G, EDGE and LTE networks. The app also made headlines after Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) halted access to its Find Friends functionality, reportedly because MessageMe violated Facebook Platform Policies that state "[Developers] may not use Facebook Platform to export user data into a competing social network without our permission. Apps on Facebook may not integrate, link to, promote, distribute or redirect to any app on any other competing social network." Blog
