Microsoft says no to non-Microsoft smartphones

Microsoft will no longer reimburse the monthly data service charges of employees not on Windows Mobile devices. The move could be an effect of the recession. But it is also a logical step that should have occurred a long time ago; it makes sense since smartphones that are not based on the Windows Mobile operating system can only belong to that of competitors. And why subsidize the use of their products, right?

On the flip side, such a move shines light on the fact that its own employees prefer products made by rival companies, notably iPhones made by Apple and BlackBerry smartphones by RIM. Of course, following recent layoffs and Microsoft's first ever year-over-year revenue decline, such savings can only help to create a positive net effect toward its bottom-line.

This is exactly what I would do if it were my company. Why would I support competitors products and give them revenue? Hello... this is business, not a democracy where everything is soft, fluffy and everything is made of sugar and spice.
