Motorola's new WLAN security product simulates hacks
Motorola announced a product that helps enterprises secure their WiFi networks by allowing them to simulate WLAN attacks from a hacker's view.
The AirDefense Wireless Vulnerability Assessment product uses the radio of the wireless sensors to create attacks and simulate how far a hacker could penetrate an enterprise network. Motorola said the product could reduce the need to manually conduct vulnerability tests and help enterprises maintain security compliance.
In March, Motorola revealed a survey that found more than half of large companies, 64 percent, were neglecting Wi-Fi security and using the same security measures for both wired and wireless networks. The survey found that only 47 percent of companies were using Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) encryption on their wireless networks.
Another WLAN vendor Aruba announced its 802.11n solution and the ArubaOS Release 3 has been validated within the FIPS 140-2 Federal Information Processing Standard for cryptographic security.
