Two versions of the iPhone 6--4.7-inch and 5.5-inch sizes--with up to 128GB of storage will be revealed at Apple's Sept. 9 event, according to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In addition, the iPad Air 2 and two versions of the iWatch with 8GB storage and 512MB RAM are coming as well, according to a report on Kuo analysis by 9to5 Mac. Read more

>> Enterprise WLAN market posts respectable 7.7% growth

The enterprise wireless local access network (WLAN) market grew at a respectable 7.7 percent year-over-year in the second quarter of 2014, according to the latest stats from IDC. Overall, the WLAN market increased 9.2 percent year-over-year in the second quarter. "While growth has stabilized, enterprise requirements around mobility and cloud applications, as well as the emergence of the Internet of Things, are driving network upgrades and greenfield deployments. This, along with the rapid uptake of the 802.11ac standard, will help sustain WLAN market growth in the near to mid-term," says Rohit Mehra, vice president of network infrastructure at IDC. Apple has taken the top position in ABI Research's enterprise smartphone competitive assessment, followed closely by Samsung in second and BlackBerry in third. With Nokia's handset division in its pocket, Microsoft has shown the most improvement in its enterprise smartphone offerings, judges ABI. For the assessment, ABI compared nine smartphone makers on criteria such as enterprise mobility management device activations, workspace management solutions, and partnerships. Read more

>> What's in a name? ISIS mobile wallet rebrands to Softcard

Faced with the same name as a brutal terrorist group, ISIS, the mobile wallet backed by major U.S. wireless carriers, is changing its name to Softcard, TechCrunch reports. A couple of months ago, The company announced it would be changing its name, but the beheading of two U.S. journalists by the terrorist group no doubt accelerated the plans. "We have no desire to share a name with this group and our hearts go out to those affected by this violence," says ISIS CEO Michael Abbott. Read more

>> More wearable vendors sign up for Salesforce Wear

Epson, Jawbone, Meta, Oculus and Vuzix are joining Salesforce Wear, an initiative to promote Salesforce's customer relationship management software and developer tools for wearable devices, IDG News Service reports. Salesforce launched Wear in June with vendors such as Fitbit, Google, and Samsung. The initiative is designed to encourage app development for wearables in the enterprise. Read more
