Opera Mini browser surpasses 100 million monthly users

Two months after announcing that its Opera Mini and Opera Mobile browsers together reached 100 million users worldwide each month, Opera Software reports that Opera Mini now serves 100 million mobile subscribers in its own right, up from 50 million in February 2010. In addition, daily Opera Mini page views now top 2 billion, doubling July 2010 totals.

Opera Mini touts PC-like web access on mobile device screens--the solution compresses webpages to one tenth of their original size, accelerating page delivery speeds while reducing data usage and fees. Late last month, Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) rolled out Opera Mini across select feature phones, indicating plans to preload the application across additional handsets later this year.

Opera Mini is also once again available for download via GetJar as well--the cross-platform applications storefront ousted the browser in early March after Opera Software introduced its own rival app store. Three weeks later, Opera Mini returned to the GetJar catalog, albeit without a link to Opera's app store.
