Psion ends legal campaign over netBook trademark
Intel and Psion have settled on an out-of-court agreement to resolve the trademark dispute over use of the "netbook" term. Psion pursued legal action against Intel in 2008 for violating of its "netBook" trademark, which it has held since 1996. Of course, the product covered by the trademark in particular had actually been discontinued in 2003, with no apparent plans to revive it.
According to a statement from Psion, "The litigation has been settled through an amicable agreement under which Psion will voluntarily withdraw all of its trademark registrations for 'Netbook.'" No liability is accepted by any parties, and Psion has agreed to waive all its rights pertaining to the use of the term in the "past, present and future."
