Report: Apple to unveil new iPhone, iPad Pro and Apple Watch bands at March 21 event

Apple is expected to release a 4-inch iPhone, a revamped iPad and an update to its Apple Watch line at a press event on March 21, reported BuzzFeed's John Paczkowski.

Initial reports put the date of the event on March 15, but it has apparently been moved to the following week, according sources consulted by Paczkowski.

March 21 would put the event one day before arguments are scheduled before a magistrate over the fight between Apple and the Federal Bureau of Investigation about access to the iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists.

In addition to the launch of the 4-inch iPhone 5se, which will have a faster chip that the iPhone 5s and will support Apple Pay, a 9.7-inch iPad Pro and a selection of new Apple Watch bands are expected to be unveiled, according to BuzzFeed.

Initially, reports indicated that the new iPad would be an iPad Air. But 9to5Mac found out from sources that it will likely be a 9.7-inch iPad Pro with a smart keyboard and Apple Pencil support. The smaller iPad Pro is expected to have similar features and specifications as the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, including a A9X processor and RAM upgrades.

According to 9to5Mac sources, Apple is expected to discontinue the iPad mini 2 and first-generation iPad Air upon the launch of the smaller iPad Pro.
