Report: HP's webOS tablet slated for March
Another analyst has pegged March 2011 as the the debut of Hewlett Packard's (NYSE: HPQ) webOS-based tablet PC. BMO Capital Markets analyst Keith Bachman concluded that the device will come in that month after he and a group of BMO Capital analysts met with more than 30 tech companies in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong.
Last month, Stifel Nicolaus analyst Doug Reid also indicated March was the probable time frame for a webOS tablet.
While HP has one tablet on the market, the 9-inch Slate 500 based on Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows OS, this device stands out as the first to run on Palm's webOS platform. Bachman, however, didn't have high prospects for the device, declaring that it seems to be a "niche market" for HP but perhaps "interesting on [the company's] margin."
Of course, the market is expected to be flooded with tablet devices in 2011.
