Sirius XM debuts BlackBerry app--Stern still MIA
Satellite radio service provider Sirius XM announced the launch of a new mobile application optimized for BlackBerry smartphones, promising access to more than 120 channels of commercial-free music, talk, sports and comedy programming. But like Sirius XM's iPhone and iPod touch application, introduced last summer, the BlackBerry app does not include signature attractions like The Howard Stern Show and play-by-play coverage of the National Football League, Major League Baseball and NASCAR, presumably because of licensing rights.
So what does the SIRIUS XM App for BlackBerry offer? According to the company, it provides SIRIUS or XM Premium Online subscribers with compatible BlackBerry devices (including the Storm, Bold, Tour and Curve) exclusive content like Mad Dog Radio with Chris Russo, Oprah Radio and Martha Stewart Living Radio alongside artist-branded music channels such as The Grateful Dead Channel, Eminem's Shade 45 and Jimmy Buffett's Radio Margaritaville. In addition, BlackBerry users can bookmark SIRIUS XM Internet channels using the "Favorites" function as well as view current programming on other available channels via the "Lookaround" feature.
